Northwest Florida is in the risk zone for strong storms over the weekend.

This map shows the Sunday outlook. The strongest storms are expected Sunday morning. While the bigger threat for stronger to severe thunderstorms will be to the west of northwest Florida, the panhandle can't rule them out.

Strong storms with damaging winds and hail are possible, the bigger threat will be flooding. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH continues until Sunday at 1 p.m.

Areas of northwest Florida could see an additional 2-4 inches of rain over the weekend. Some isolated areas could end up with even higher amounts.

It's been a rainy month. The normal April monthly rainfall total to this point for Pensacola is 2.46 inches, but the city has seen much more, 6.35 inches. If any one area gets a significant downpour this weekend, totals could get closer to 10 inches for the month. Areas that receive the highest rain could see possible road closures, creek flooding, and water flowing over roads.

These are the kind of rainfall totals that could bring flood water that would impact property and people.

Creeks, streams, and rivers are also likely to experience rises.
Many areas of northwest Florida, southwest Alabama, southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi coast have saturated soils from recent heavy rainfall. Any additional rainfall will quickly run off resulting in flash flooding of poorly drained, low lying areas.
