SANTA ROSA COUNTY - As the number of swine flu cases in the world Has reached 10,000.



The first local case has now been confirmed.



Health officials won't release the name of the patient... But they're telling us one way she may have gotten it.



Channel Three's Grace White joins us with the details....



This woman is a mom... But she doesn't have any school aged kids.



Health officials also say she does not work in daycare, healthcare nor school.



Shannon Jacobs, Health Administrator: "Well there's always that nervousness, whenever you... whenever it's on the other side of the world or even on the other side of the state it's not close to home."



But this time... It is close to home.



A Santa Rosa County woman recently traveled to California and when she returned she wasn't feeling the same.



Shannon Jacobs, Health Administrator: "She did travel, she came back from travel and was feeling a little sick a so she went to see her doctor."



She tested positive for the h1n1 virus or swine flu.



It is the county's first confirmed case.



Shannon Jacobs, Health Administrator: "We are encouraging people not to panic, not to be alarmed it is a mild illness. we should do the same things ever year we do to protect us from the seasonal flu."



Grace White, Reporter: "There's always hand sanitizer and wipes... but county health officials say still the best protection is washing your hands."



Shannon Jacobs, Health Administrator: "We are happy to report that she has no school aged children in her home, only adult family members and none of those family members are experiencing any flu like symptoms."



The woman is now home-bound... On doctor's orders.



She's taking Tamiflu... The antiviral medication shown to be effective in treating the virus.



Shannon Jacobs, Health Administrator: "She'll take that for five days, two pills a day for five days and at that point if she is not experiencing any more symptoms then she will be allowed to return to work and she should not be contagious."



The woman started taking medication Monday... So, Friday will be her 5th and final day of treatment.



County health officials say they'll be monitoring the situation closely.



20 other possible cases have all tested negative in Santa Rosa County.



In Okaloosa County, two possible cases there also tested negative.



And... In Escambia County there have been no cases reported.



Across the state though it's a different story.



It's been less than three weeks since Florida saw its first confirmed case of swine flu.



Since then the number of cases in the state has skyrocketed.



Florida now has 122 confirmed and probable cases of the virus.



Meanwhile, Alabama has 64 confirmed and probable cases.



Seven people have died across the county from swine flu.
