Derrick Brooks to Be Enshrined in NFL Hall of Fame
CANTON, Ohio -- It's a big weekend for Derrick Brooks, an NFL stand out at the linebacker position and one of Pensacola's own.
Brooks will be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame Saturday.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
The honors started Friday night with the gold jacket ceremony.
Only 287 Hall of Famers get to wear that distinctive gold jacket.
He got a big hug from Emitt Smith, another Pensacola-bred hall of gamer on his way to the stage.
His son, Decalon, took the jacket from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell during the ceremony, doing the honors and putting the jacket on his dad.
After Saturday's induction ceremony, Brooks is set to receive his Hall of Fame ring later this fall at a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game.
Brooks played football at Washington High, then Florida State University. He also played for the Buccaneers, and won a Super Bowl with the team.
