Tiger Point Golf Course in Gulf Breeze renovations

Major renovations are coming to Tiger Point Golf Course in Gulf Breeze.
They are set to begin Friday, August 22, 2014.

The city of Gulf Breeze bought Tiger Point in December 2012.
After Hurricane Ivan wiped out both east and west side golf courses, they promised to re-open them.

Gulf Breeze Director of Parks and Recreation, Ron Pulley, says they are moving the pro shop and closing the west course, so they can rebuild it from the ground up.  "The city has committed $160,000 to the renovation of the club house and $3.6 million to the renovation of the west course. That's a long term commitment.

Pulley says operationally, they hope to break even within the next seven years.  With a new course, dining room and pro shop, the city has plans to serve more people and host larger events.  "Right now we can host events with 100 to 120 people. I think in the future we are hoping to be able to host 250 to 275 people."

Golfers like Sandi Laird, are looking forward to playing the full course on the west side again.  She says "It will be great to have 36 holes again because that will give everybody an opportunity when one side has to be closed for events that are happening and we are looking forward to improvement in the whole area. It will be great for everybody and the tourists as well."

The city's goal is to open the west course next fall.
