GM/Chrysler announce recall due to ignition switch
General Motors announced another recall.
The company recalled more than 8.4 million vehicles worldwide for faulty ignition switches, wiring, and fasteners.
The total number of vehicles recalled yesterday is the company's largest single day of recalls this year.
Worldwide, the automaker recalled nearly 30-million vehicles this year.
Chrysler is recalling nearly 700,000 vehicles due to an ignition switch problem similar to the one that General Motors had.
The recall affects more than half a million vehicles in the US.
It includes some Dodge Journey SUVs, Dodge Grand Caravans and Chrysler Town and Country Minivans made from 2007 to 2009.
The company says jarring road conditions, such as hitting a pothole, may cause the vehicle's key to slip out of the "run" position.
