Scam alert: Man impersonating Sheriff's office employee

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office says a man is calling people pretending to be a sheriff's office employee.

They say this scam is similar to others happening across the Panhandle. The difference is, the man poses as an OCSO supervisor who gives the name of an actual employee. He tells the person there is a warrant for their arrest.

Then the person is told to go to the local pharmacy and purchase two green dot cards, both around $500, The victim is told to call him back with the card numbers to avoid going to jail.

If you have fallen victim to this scam, you are asked to call the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
