Milton City Council gives initial approval for new handguns for police deptartment

The Milton City Council gave initial approval to a request for new police guns.

Chief Greg Brand says most of the guns  officers are using right now are at least fifteen years old.
The new model he wants is customizable, so they're easier and safer for different officers to use.

He says the old guns can be traded in keeping the cost of upgrading all full-time officers under three-thousand dollars.
The city council is expected to give final approval next week.
