Weather Alert

On the map below, the circle over the Gulf of Mexico is for an area of low pressure heading toward Texas.  Development is not expected.  Also, we're tracking Cristobal and a tropical wave over the eastern Caribbean Sea that may become another depression though chances are low.

Crestview leaders plan for improving Twin Hills Park

City leaders in Crestview are working on plans to improve Twin Hills Park.

The master plan includes a boating area, a small amphitheater and a skate park.

A wooded area would be converted into a playground for dogs.
The old Amtrak Depot might be remodeled as an information booth or public restrooms.
And with new hope that Amtrak might someday bring back passenger service, it could become a bigger station.
City Planner Eric Davis says a big part of the vision is to connect the park to downtown.

"Help bring people downtown to live there, work there, shop there, and to bring in the aspect of the recreational facilities to Downtown"
Crestview planners hope to have cost estimates for the project within the next couple of weeks.

The Community Redevelopment Agency has close to a million dollars set aside for improvements in the area.
