Walnut Hill Road Shoulder Repair Starts

WALNUT HILL, Fla. -- It's what some drivers up north have been waiting to see.

Road crews started repairs on a portion of Highway 97 in Walnut Hill Saturday.

The shoulder collapsed in an existing gully about 50-feet deep back in May.

The damaged shoulder is about a mile south of Ernest Ward Middle School.  Road crews have made temporary fixes to the roads, but it's continued to get worse.

Short- and long-term repairs won't be covered by FEMA money because the damage happened after the April flooding.
