Florida sees increase in foster homes

Florida now has more than one thousand new foster homes.

The Department of Children and Families reported that it has added 1,400 new foster homes within the past year.
There are almost 5,000 licensed foster care providers in the state.
DCF's Interim Secretary Mike Carroll credited private contractors around the state with recruiting, licensing, and matching foster parents with children in need of short and long-term homes.
