On the map below, the circle over the Gulf of Mexico is for an area of low pressure likely heading toward the Texas/Mexico border.  Development is not expected.  Also, we're tracking Cristobal and a tropical wave over the eastern Caribbean Sea that may become another depression though chances are low.

Watch for a supermoon tonight

The summer of supermoons kicks off this weekend.

The first will be visible tonight (Friday) and tomorrow night (Saturday). It's a phenomenon that makes the moon appear larger and brighter.  It will happen again August 10th and September 9th.

Although scientists stress it's sometimes hard to tell the difference between a supermoon and a regular full moon. They say as clouds and haze can mask a difference in brightness.
