Illinois 4th grader sued for bullying

In Illinois, a fourth grader and his family are suing a classmate and his parents for severe bullying.
"It was quite an incident for us to go through in our house, and have our son waking up screaming, not wanting to go to school, and crying and feeling that he wasn't safe at school."

Parents Deveri and Matthew Del Core filed the suit on their son's behalf.
They claim one of their son's classmates violently bullied their son for the entire school year.

They say the bully hit, punched, choked and even threatened to kill thier son.
The Del Core's say they filed several police reports and told the school about the attacks.
But they say administrators did nothing.

"At first we were pretty confident that the school would address it, but after a while it became very frustrating to know that nothing was being done."
In a statement, the Chicago School District says "...We value the safety and security of each and every one of our students and staff members and take bullying prevention very seriously."
Del Core's are seeking 50,000 dollars from the bully, the bully's parents and the Chicago-area Elementary School.
