US Embassies may be at risk due to lack of screening guards
US Embassies overseas may be at risk because security contractors are failing to fully screen local guards.
That is the finding of an internal audit by the US State Department's Inspector General.
The report was conducted in the wake of the deadly attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi.
Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed in that attack in 2012.
The review found that local guards sent to six embassies to improve security were not thoroughly vetted by contractors.
The names of the embassy locations have not been revealed.
