Artist opens exhibit in Hollywood candy store

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (ABC) - A sugar filled art exhibit is now open in California, paying tribute to some of the iconic celebrities of our time.

Artist Jason Mercier created candy-crafted portraits in the likenesses of  Miley Cyrus, Judge Judy, Chuy, and even the entire cast of "Orange Is The New Black."

The artist chose the candy for the portrait carefully. For the Netflix hit, Mercier used candy corn as the background.

When it came to portraits of "Breaking Bad" stars Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, Mercier chose rock candy, since they played crystal meth dealers in the show.

He says the candy choices are based on the celebrities personality or character.

"I like the edge and i like people with strong personalities. People are more colorful, fun and kind of can take it. I like people who can be in on the joke," said artist Jason Mercier.

He's also done a portrait of Kevin Bacon made out of bacon.
Mercier says he got his start in art with macaroni.

The first celebrity portraits  were Charlie's Angels out of uncooked pasta.

"Candylebrity" will be on display all summer long at a candy store in Hollywood.
