Abortion Law Changes

In less than three weeks, Florida women will not be able to get an abortion if a doctor determines the fetus can survive outside the womb.

The new law, signed by Governor Rick Scott, redefines the state's current abortion ban.
Now, a doctor will have to determine whether a fetus is viable before performing an abortion

Current law makes it illegal to abort a pregnancy after 24 weeks, unless the mother's life is in danger.    

The new law takes effect July 1st.
It keeps an exception if a mother's life is at risk
