Okaloosa Co sheriff asks TDC for Bed Tax money

Today, the Okaloosa County's sheriff is asking the Tourist Development Council for 350,000 dollars in Bed Taxes.

Sheriff Larry Ashley says this would help pay for the demand for law enforcement when tourists are in town.

Ashley says during peak tourist periods, calls for service go up eleven-hundred percent in some categories.

The funds would subsidize beach patrol and marine patrol units during the summer.

If the Tourist Development Council approves the sheriff's request, it moves to the county commission for a final vote
