Tropical Depression 2 has formed over the Atlantic Ocean. The system is moving west and is headed to the Caribbean Sea. This system is not forecast to become much stronger and could become non-tropical by Thursday.

High bacteria levels reported in Bayou Grande

PENSACOLA, FL - Effective immediately, in response to bacteriological sampling, the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County (DOH-Escambia) is issuing a health alert for the following beach in Escambia County, Florida: Bayou Grande, Navy Point - North of Sunset Avenue Bridge.

The Florida Department of Health in Escambia County advises against any water-related activities at the above location due to the potential for high bacteria levels.

The bacteriological sampling occurred during water quality monitoring activities and the level of bacteria has exceeded the level established by state guidelines.
