Perdido Chamber unveils new fish tank

The new fish tank in the Perdido Key Chamber of Commerce has brought hundreds of people inside the chamber.

The aquarium was built by acrylic tank manufacturing and animal planet's hit tv series "Tanked." The pirate ship shaped tank was funded with BP oil spill money.
"This fish tank holds more than 400 gallons of water and houses nearly 50 exotic species of fish, most native to the Gulf of Mexico. Look at the colorful fish, blue yellow and orange. There is even a treasure chest. The tank was delivered Thursday, filming of the tv show "Tanked" was Friday and over the weekend the new tank drew a huge crowd."

At the Perdido Key Visitors Center the new fish tank is a hit. Chamber Event Coordinator, Lori Raisch says the visitors center was packed all weekend.

"We had about 200 hundred visitors a day on Saturday and Sunday which is about four times what our normal walk in traffic would be."

The Chamber's goal in purchasing the fish tank was to attract more people to Perdido Key. It was bought from a company that builds their tanks on tv, so it will be seen world wide this Fall.

"Tanked airs in 96 million homes and 200 different countries so a lot of people are going to see it." but "we hope it means more visitors to Perdido Key. We love this place and we think the more people we can get to see it and fall in love with it they way that we do... It is great for everyone."

Come to the Perdido Key Visitor's Center and see the ship. The center is open until 4:30 pm everday.
