Residents rally for awareness at Stop the Violence event
A community came together in Downtown Pensacola to hold the first
Stop the Violence rally for a string of violent crimes in the community.
It 's at Corinne Jones Park and lasts until 7 p.m. There is free food, games, and music. Many people at the event know someone who was killed because of violence in the area.
The event organizers hope to send message to kids to stay out of trouble and keep focused on something positive during their summer vacation.
"If I could just touch one kid today everything would be good."
"We're just bringing the community together you know what i'm saying to stop the violence."
The event honored 14-year-old Kenteyonna Anderson and 1-year-old Tyquarious Moultrie---both children were shot and killed in the area.
