New Mosquito-Borne Virus Outbreak Hits U.S.
Health officials are warning about a new mosquito-borne virus outbreak.
It's called chikungunya fever and has no known cure or treatment.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says it was brought into the country by infected travelers who had recently been to the Caribbean.
The symptoms kick in about three to seven days after the mosquito bite and last about a week.
And they're not pleasant: fever, headache, vomiting, rash and joint pain that can last for months.
There are usually just 28 cases of the virus here in the U.S. each year.
So far, officials have already confirmed 38 imported cases.
