Mary Esther Store Robbery
The owners of Advanced Appliance on Lovejoy in Mary Esther were locking up after business on Monday when they were robbed at gunpoint.
Rachel Humpert said "I was fixing the thermostat on the AC, and I turned around and he's being shoved through the door with a gun to his head."
Humpert and Ben Delaney were trying to go home when a man approached them, pulled a gun, and forced them back into their office.
He tied Humpert's arms and legs together, and forced Delaney to open the safe and give him money.
"That was the money that I was saving to buy a house after we got married," said Delaney.
The thief ran away with $9,400 in cash, and left Delaney and Humpert tied up in their office.
"I had wiggled over to my desk, knocked my phone on the ground, and I called 911 from there," said Humpert.
Delaney said "Everybody has businesses here and everything is great. I've been here seven years and I haven't had any problems."
The timing couldn't have been worse for the couple , Ben and Rachel have a big day later this week.
"We get married on Friday, and it's not the best memory. We're trying to put it behind us, so we have the best wedding and honeymoon as possible," said Humpert.
They're not optimistic the money will be recovered, her wedding day will still be a happy occasion.
"It still is, because I still have him and I still have my wedding and it's going to still be there," said Humpert.
Humpert and Delaney say they know they'll have to work twice as hard when they return from their honeymoon.
