LA Clippers have a new owner

The NBA's nightmare over Clippers owner Donald Sterling's racist remarks may soon be coming to a close.
ESPN is reporting a sale is imminent.

It looks like the Los Angeles Clippers have a new owner.

ESPN is reporting the Sterling family trust signed an agreement on Thursday to sell the team to former Microsoft Chief Steve Ballmer.

The price tag: A record $2 billion.

But the agreement was reached without the blessing of owner Donald Sterling.
His wife, Shelly, pushed the sale.

Mr. Sterling may consider legal action.

Maxwell Blecher, Donald Sterling's Attorney, said "There is something that is really wrong when someone is talking to his girlfriend, has a private conversation and winds up losing his life and his property."

Shelly Sterling had hoped to find a buyer before an NBA meeting next Tuesday, when League Owners could have snatched the clippers from the family as punishment for Donald Sterling's racist comments about African Americans.

There were reportedly 3 bids for Clippers -- all north of a billion dollars.

The relationship between Donald and Shelly Sterling is.....complicated.

Shelly Sterling, "I'm still married. But - we're estranged. We have more of a business arrangement in our relationship than we have of a love relationship."

Shelly Sterling's agreement with Ballmer will now go straight to the NBA for final approval. But Donald Sterling is not backing down.

Maxwell Blecher, "It's not going to go away just by a sale. I don't think he wants on his tombstone...Donald sterling racist.

Steve Ballmer, worth more than $20 billion, would become the richest majority owner in sports.
He was vetted by the league when he was part of group trying to buy the Sacramento Kings.
