Residents, inmates may pursue legal action in jail explosion

Several people are looking into taking legal action over the explosion at the Escambia County Jail.

Natural gas led to the explosion on April 30th that killed two inmates and sent 184 people to the hospital. Attorneys offered advice to family and loved ones of the victims and inmates and explained legal options last night. Several attorneys currently representing inmates say their clients are not receiving appropriate medical treatment. And many feel the explosion could have been prevented.

"I'm upset with how they treated the inmates. They had no plan for the whole ordeal."

"We're getting no answers. They're not getting medical treatment you need to have someone standing up for you."

The state attorney says this investigation is ongoing. Right now, they are continuing to interview witnesses and go over evidence.
