Higher driving speed in Florida veteoed
Governor Rick Scott says he will veto a bill that would have increased the speed limit on Florida interstates from 70 to 75 miles per hour.
The bill would not have raised the limit automatically, but would have allowed the Department of Transportation to increase them when they saw fit. Rural, four-lane roads would have been raised to 70 miles per hour.
Scott says he was influenced by by law enforcement.
"I've heard from sheriffs around the state and other law enforcement asking me to veto the bill. I'm gonna stand with law enforcement and I want everybody to stay safe. I don't want anybody to be injured so I'm going to veto that bill."
AAA Motor Clubs has also been calling on Scott to veto higher speeds.
