Gulf Breeze home still underwater
Three days after the record breaking rain fall, some homes in Gulf Breeze are still standing in water.
Channel Three's Ricki Vann met with a homeowner in Ranchette Square.
In the front yard of Jerry Evatt's home, water is still standing and it is not draining anytime soon.
"Off to the left is my living room, which still has water in it."
Jerry says he's lived here through Ivan and never had flooding in his home.
"Twenty-five years I have lived here and never had this problem before."
"A lot of this stuff I had sitting out to put in a yard sale, that I was going to do that today...never going to have it."
Jerry's home took on a foot of water Tuesday night.
The County advised him not to live in his home under these conditions.
"This was all flooded. Can't use the sewer system. Can't use it."
He showed us how the damage continued through his house.
"Here's the laundry room. You know everything was flooded. That leads out into the garage. Closets, the doors are all warped. So everything has to be replaced."
"This was going to be some really neat garage sale stuff, but now it is going to be some real neat dumpster stuff."
Even his favorite collectibles were ruined.
"This is my man cave out here. Well take a look, we used to have card games every month. You know, fun games... no serious gambling fokes."
Then, we saw his backyard.
"This whole backyard was nothing but a lake. Fence line to fence line was a lake. Now I just wish I could get rid of that lake in the front yard... it would help things you know."
Jerry is looking for any help he can get so he can move back home.
