BERTHA QUICKLY HEADING WEST-NORTHWEST

Tropical Storm Bertha formed over the Atlantic Thursday night and is heading west-northwest.  It has winds of 45 miles per hour and is not forecast to become a hurricane. The storm is not forecast to move into the Gulf of Mexico.

Florida's unemployment rate dropped slightly in April

Florida's unemployment rate dropped slightly in April.
The jobless rate was 6.2% last month, down from 6.3% in March.

The rate has been relatively flat in recent months.
But it is significantly lower than it was last April, it was 7.6% back then.

Now lets break it down County by County.
All three counties showed a drop in their unemployment rate.

In Escambia County, it dropped from 6.7% in March to 5.9% in April.
About 8,000 people reported being unemployed during the period.

Santa Rosa County's unemployment went down from 5.7% to 5% flat.
Santa Rosa County had about 3600  people still unemployed.

Okaloosa County's unemployment also dropped.
From 4.8% to 4.1%.

A little more than 4200 people reported being unemployed there.
