ARC Group home for womens with developmental disabilities devastated by storm

We've seen and heard many stories over the past few days about people losing their homes to the flood waters.
The ARC Gateway Group home off of Summit Blvd. was also devastated.
The six women who have developmental disabilities who live in the home have had to be relocated.

Standing in the middle of what use to be the homes driveway.
It washed out during the storm leaving this car trapped.
Visually this might be the worse damage to the property, but water crept inside the home ruining many items.

Around 1:30 Wednesday morning the water rose nearly two inches inside the home.
There was more water on the outside of the building that caused a sinkhole.
That made it difficult for emergency crews to get in and help the people inside.
The Pensacola Fire Department knocked down a door to pull the women to safety.
Over the past few days the flooring has been ripped up and dry wall knocked out.

The ARC estimates around 60,000 dollars in damages.
While repairs are being made the women who say they are family have been separated and spread out all over the community.

"It was shocking! It was shocking. We could hear descriptions and see pictures on Facebook but it's nothing like seeing the real thing."

The home has been here for ten years and the women say it's not going anywhere.

They hope to have the repairs done in the next few months.
