Flooding by the numbers

More than 1,200 Escambia County homes were seriously damaged during the flooding. The county released damage assessment numbers Friday.

They counted 1,252 homes in the county with major damage. Major meaning more than 12 inches of water got into the home.

930 homes have minor damage.
3 homes were destroyed.
50 businesses sustained major damage.
80 percent of the roadways have been assessed.
45 roads are still closed, and 41 roads are damaged.

The county is  working with the state of Florida and FEMA to conduct more damage estimates. Once those are complete, a disaster declaration  request will be sent to the president.

Until then, FEMA assistance is not available.
