Governor Rick Scott tours Pensacola damaged areas

Governor Rick Scott was in Pensacola this morning taking a look at how recovery efforts are going.

Scott walked along Piedmont Road and spoke with homeowners there.
That area is considered to be the hardest hit are in the city.
Scott says the damage is "heart-breaking".
Crews are removing broken asphalt and working to restore basic services like water to homes.

Scott promised the continued support of the state government in the recovery efforts in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.

"There is going to be a lot of work to do. In my experience with FEMA I dealt with them after Debbie and Isaac. They will work their tails off and we got to hold everyone accountable."

After touring the Piedmont Road area, Scott met with several downtown Pensacola business owners who expressed concerns their flood insurance will not cover the days they are closed for repair.
The governor promised to look into that.
