Governor calls for inspections of federal hospitals that serve veterans

FLORIDA  --  Governor Rick Scott now wants state authorities to inspect federal hospitals that serve *veterans.
Tuesday, Scott sent a letter today  to the Secretary of the State's main health care agency asking for the inspections.
The governor and other elected officials want answers about the care at hospitals in the "Veterans Affairs Sunshine Healthcare Network."
Five cancer patients reportedly died because of delays in diagnosis or treatment through the network.

Nine others were hurt.
Hospitals in Florida, South Georgia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands are under investigation.
Federal officials have refused to say in which hospitals the deaths occurred.

The US Department of Veterans Affairs is expected to report that information to congress in the next two months.
