California man in legal battle over a penny

A California man is mounting a legal battle against the federal government to keep a penny.

Randy Lawrence's dad worked for the Denver Mint for twenty years.
And he collected coins, including a 1974 *aluminum penny.
It was made as a test and most of them were destroyed.
When lawrence took his to a coin shop, he discovered how rare it is.
And then came the letter from the government demanding the penny's return.

Randy Lawrence: "You go from that high to this sudden extreme low.  It will do so much more good if we are allowed to auction this coin and give a chunk of money to charity."

Lawrence is taking the case to court.
If he's allowed to sell it, it could fetch a quarter of a million dollars or more.
