Navarre student arrested for having gun at school

Joshua Patton, a student from Navarre High School is under arrest today for being in possession of a firearm while on school grounds at Navarre High School.

Deputies obtained information today regarding Patton having a firearm in his backpack.

Deputies and school Administration quickly located Patton who was on campus.

A .22 firearm was located in the students backpack. The firearm was secured and Patton was immediately arrested.

Our investigation established there were no threats made to any students or staff and no one was being targeted for any reason.

As with any investigation of this nature, we have placed additional Deputies on the school campus.

We also want to remind students, parents and visitors that bringing a firearm to any school campus is a third degree Felony.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office takes these reports very seriously and as always we are mindful of the safety of all students and staff.
