Ohio now recognizes out-of-state same-sex marriages

Ohio must now recognize out-of-state same-sex marriages.

Earlier this month several same-sex couples asked a federal judge to dismiss Ohio's voter-approved ban on recognizing same-sex marriages performed in other states.
They argued the ban violated equal protection laws.

The judge declared the ban unconstitutional today.

The ruling does not mean Ohio must allow homosexual couples to marry in the state.
Voters banned same-sex marriage there in 2004.
