American runner wins the Boston Marathon
BOSTON -- An American man won the Boston Marathon for the first time since 1983.
Meb Keflezighi crossed the finish line with an official time of two hours, eight minutes, 37 seconds.
A record number of runners and spectators took part in today's race.
Security was beefed up after last year's bombing that left three people dead and more 260 others hurt.
"I was happy to be here, I was happy to come back. I feel sorry about everything that happened last year, but just the fact that we were able to come back this year and still be running is more joy than anything."
A million people showed up to cheer on the 36,000 runners. That's double the usual turnout.
