Escambia Co. woman sentenced to 24 yrs in death of her daughter

An Escambia County woman is heading to prison for charges related to the death of her daughter.

Jennifer Eiland was found guilty of negligent homicide in March.
Today she was sentenced to 24 years in state prison with credit for time served.
Eiland's 14 month-old daughter was found dead last August in a neighbor's goldfish pond, off Betmark Road.
"She would always do the best that she could with them babies and by them babies.

It was a horrific accident that's what it was, a horrific accident that should have never been turned into a crime scene." 1:10:43

The judge said she took into account not only the baby's death, but the lasting impact of what happened, on Eiland's other children.
Her four surviving children have been placed in Foster Care.
