High School and College students compete in electric car race

Mixing work and play.
High school and college students raced their home-made electric cars to the finish line at the 6th annual Emerald Coast Electrathon.

Not as fast as Nascar races, 20 electric powered cars raced around the track at the Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola.
The race consists of two 60 minute races.

Students apply what they have learned in the classroom to see how many laps they can complete on a charged battery.
Racers from Pensacola State College say the hardest part of the race was getting the car fixed after there was a crash in the first race.

"As far as teamwork goes it takes everyone of us to get that car out there, every time we get out there."

Pensacola High School and Milton High School also competed.
