Combating the spread of Lionfish

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has a plan to combat the spread of Lionfish.

The fish is popular for aquariums but they're now threatening native marine life in the gulf.

The changes proposed by FWC staff include.
Prohibiting the importation of live Lionfish.
Allowing the harvest of Lionfish while diving with a re-breather.
And increasing opportunities for Lionfish tournaments and other organized events.

The commission will vote on the changes at its June meeting.
