Pensacola City Council votes against changing City Charter
PENSACOLA -- The Pensacola City Council voted against an idea to change the city charter.
Councilman Charles Bare wanted voters to decide on three amendments.
They would give the city council financial control, more power to decide the organization of city government, and making the mayor a voting member of the city council.
Council members argued they haven't given the current city charter enough of a chance.
Last night, the amendments failed to pass -- but the city council did approve having a charter workshop.
A date for that has not yet been set.
