New plan discussed today for 3-Mile Bridge

There's a new plan for the 3-Mile Bridge and today the transportation department plans to go over it with a project advisory group.

FDOT and local leaders have been working on a plan to replace the 53-year-old bridge since 2011. After considering  public input and impact studies, they have chosen a  "preferred corridor" that's pretty close to the current route.

The transportation department will go over the plan with members of the project advisory group at 5 p.m. A public hearing is scheduled for June 10, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Grand Hotel in Pensacola.

Staff members will be available to answer questions and take comments. Construction of the new bridge is expected to begin in 2017.
