Evacuation orders and carrying weapons w/o permit
FLORIDA -- People forced to evacuate their homes during a hurricane could soon be allowed to carry a weapon without a concealed carry permit.
A proposed bill gaining support in the senate would remove any criminal penalties for those found carrying weapons in public without a permit during evacuations ordered by the governor.
But the Florida Sheriff's Association opposes the bill, claiming it is too vague and could put people at risk.
"Where in your bill does the language prohibit someone from carrying 14 different assault weapons at any given time.
"Again, we are not describing each and every scenario."
The proposal could be voted on as early as this week.
