YOUR THREE CENTS: Do you support or oppose the use of taxpayer dollars for a politician's TV show?
Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward will be starring in his own TV show using over 23,000 taxpayer dollars to do it.
Mayor Hayward plans to host a half hour show on BLAB TV for nine weeks.
It is scheduled to end on August 14th just two weeks before the primary in his re-election bid.
But the mayor says the show has nothing to do with politics or campaigning.
He says he simply wants city residents to know what he is doing, and what's happening in the city.
Still, the show has its critics.
Some are calling it an obvious campaign tactic.
Others say the money could be better spent elsewhere.
The mayor issued a statement Monday saying other local politicians have hosted their own TV shows, and television is an effective way to communicate with voters.
