New statistics on Autism sobering

The new statistics are sobering.
One in 68 American children has autism.

That is according to new data released by the Centers for Disease Control.

Research shows that among boys - it's one in 42.
Among girls one in 189.
   
That is a 29 percent increase in prevalence in just the last two years.
There are no blood or medical tests for autism.  Doctors provide an assessment based on a child's behavior, communication and social interactions.
   
Symptoms usually appear by age two.
There is an event going on this weekend in Pensacola to raise community awareness about autism.
   
"Steps for Autism', a fundraising walk, is taking place Saturday from 9 am until 1 pm at the Pensacola State College *Pensacola* campus track.
   
There will be activities for children, food, music and much more!
Admission is free.
