Escambia County toddler death investigation

ESCAMBIA COUNTY  --  Escambia County deputies are investigating the shooting death of a two-year-old boy.

It happened at a duplex on South Fairfield Drive around 10:30 Saturday morning.
Deputies say the toddler got ahold of a gun in his home and accidentally shot himself.
They haven't released any details about where the gun was kept or how the child got to it.
Gun dealers say they have a lot of options for keeping guns locked.
Dale Crabtree/Buck & Bass Sporting Goods: "Generally, a trigger lock or a small combination lock. Another real good one is a biometric lock. It takes a fingerprint and these can be purchased where only the people who have fingerprint access can open that safe."

Crabtree says most guns are sold with a handbook from the federal government about how to properly store and lock them.
