Walton County deputy cleared in shooting of dog in March

WALTON COUNTY  --  A Walton County deputy has been cleared of *any wrong doing* after shooting and killing a dog he says charged at him.

The deputy had been called to a house on East Mack Bayou Road on March 11th by a woman who said she was afraid to get out of her car.
She said she felt threatened by the dog.
The sheriff's office says while the deputy was investigating.   The dog charged him, forcing him to fire in self-defense.
A camera on the deputy's sunglasses backs up his account of what happened.
In addition Walton County has a leash law and does not permit dogs to roam freely.
The dog was off-leash, off-property and not under supervision by its owner at the time of the incident.
