Targets CFO explains data breach to senate judiciary committee
Today, Target's Chief Financial Officer was in the hot seat explaining what happened during the data breach that affected millions of its shoppers.
The first set of data was Malwar placed on our point of sale registers and there they grabbed payment card information.
John Mulligan told the senate judiciary committee that his company did not detect the breach.
Target was unaware that it's network had been hacked until the Justice Department notified the company on December 12th.
By then the hackers had grabbed personal data from as many as 70 million customers.
Mulligan says its up to *both* retailers and banks to protect people from these types of security breaches.
