Girl Scouts honoring Colorado National Guard

A Girl Scout troop is honoring the Colorado National Guard.

Back in September, the Girl Scouts became stranded at an outdoor education center for several days.
The Colorado National Guard rescued the troop.

Every year Girl Scouts select a "hometown hero" collecting and donating cookies to reward them for their heroism.
For these fifth graders, their "Hometown Hero" was an easy decision.

"They used their time to come up to Cal-Wood and save us from the floods. So we decided this is how we wanted to repay them."

The troop has collected hundreds of care packages for their heroes.

They plan to deliver them in-person next month, to the Colorado National Guard.
