Crestview mother sentenced to 65 years in son's death

CRESTVIEW  --  A Crestview mother has been sentenced to 65 years in prison for the death of her 2-year-old son.

Nicole Allen was arrested in December, 2011 after her son Logan died from brain injuries.

She was charged with third degree murder and *ten counts of child neglect.
She pleaded no contest last May but then withdrew that plea in the fall.

Prosecutors say Allen and Logan's father, Grant Sherwin, left the toddler and his 3-year-old sister locked in the home alone sometimes for hours at a time.

Sherwin pleaded no contest to child abuse and neglect charges and was sentenced to 20 years.

Logan's sister is now in the care of a Foster family.
