Weather Alert

On the map below, the circle over the Gulf of Mexico is for an area of low pressure likely heading toward the Texas/Mexico border.  Development is not expected.  Also, we're tracking Cristobal and a tropical wave over the eastern Caribbean Sea that may become another depression though chances are low.

Ice closes I-10 temporarily again

A section of I-10  was closed down this morning because of *ice*.
The Florida Highway Patrol closed down 1-10 from the Bagdad exit in Milton to Defuniak Springs.
Drivers were re-routed along Highway  90.
Here at the Bagdad exit where many drivers were diverted earlier today because a part of I- 10 was shut down for about a half an hour.

For some it was a quick flash back to the ice storm that closed several area roads last week.

Florida Highway Patrol closed says small patches of ice were on several of the overpasses and bridges on I-10.

Sand and salt trucks were brought in to treat the affected spots on the interstate.
The maintenance caused a short stand-still on I-10. We talked to a few drivers who were annoyed with the delay.   Others were confused. One man said this isn't how he wanted to start his vacation to Disney World.

"It's not as much fun as the rides.
"Considering where we are going, it's alright. I'm just looking forward to getting there."

"My car is telling me it's 37 degrees so I don't see why there is ice on the bridge."
Drivers say while they were frustrated by closure and the delay, they say that safety is still the first priority.
