Florida/Georgia water fight continues at Chattahoochee River
Attorneys for the state of Georgia are asking the U S Supreme Court to stay out of the latest legal battle in a long fight over water rights with Florida.
Florida last fall asked the Supreme Court to intervene in deciding how water flowing from the Chattahoochee River across the Georgia-Florida line should be shared by the states.
Georgia officials say involvement by the Supreme Court would disrupt the Army Corps of Engineers' work on a new water allocation plan in the region.
They also say Florida failed to show Metro Atlanta's water consumption is to blame for a near-collapse of the Apalachicola Bay Oyster industry.
