Santa Rosa County stand-off ends with suspect in custody
SANTA ROSA COUNTY -- One man was taken into custody after a stand-off in Gulf Breeze today.
Santa Rosa County deputies say Christopher Creighton had several warrants.
And they received information he was living in a home of of Sanibel Lane.
But, when he refused to answer the door the stand-off began.
"For about four hours Tuesday Santa Rosa County deputies closed down this cul de sac trying to pull a man out of this home."
Santa Rosa County deputies say Christopher Creighton has four warrants in Santa Rosa and several in Escambia County.
Around 9:30 Tuesday morning deputies tried to get Creighton to come out of this home..
They could hear him inside but he wouldn't answer the door.
About 45 minutes later a person came outside but it wasn't Creighton. They were questioned.
Neighbors stood around their homes watching...
Nathan Wheeler "We've all been pressed against our windows watching."
Deputies tried several things..
"I heard them on the bull horn basically say your safety is insured and he kept saying his address number and his last name and they did that probably a dozen times and they eventually assembled themselves and went in."
Eventually the SWAT team entered the home with a K-9..
Rich Aloy "This is the most dangerous type of call we're going into the unknown and our SWAT team trains for this specific type of mission and it's dangerous you are going into an area you just don't know what's going on."
The dog found Creighton in the attic hiding..
He refused to surrender and was bitten by the dog and taken into custody..
"They gave him every warning they could."
Neighbors say they didn't know Creighton well he had only been living in the area for about a year..
Tom Wilson "He didn't, they didn't socialize with anybody everybody just felt like they were trouble."
"The only times I've seen him out there he seemed like he was kind of violent to that woman who lived there and loud and obnoxious."
Some say they were happy to see him go.
"I'm very happy and it feels safer in the area now that we've got this guy out of here."
Creighton was treated on scene for the dog bite injuries and was taken to the hospital.
